Our Data Centre

Having designed and built our data centre from scratch, we have been able to leverage the best in switching and routing technology to bring you a fast, reliable and secure network providing a solid, scalable base from which your solutions can operate.

At the heart of our network is a pair of fully managed, cross-connected, Cisco core switches. These aggregate our diverse fibre optic upstream providers and deliver upto 32Gb of switching capacity per second. Provisioned in a 2N configuration to provide a complete failover solution, these units are designed to deliver maximum uptime in order to meet our demanding enterprise class SLA's.

Our core infrastructure in-turn aggregates our quantity of managed gigabit edge switches located at the rack level through the latest copper structured cabling standard; Cat6A. These units again boast the Cisco brand and accompanying feature-sets which supply fleixble, scalable bandwidth to your hosted services.

All of our networking infrastructure technology is based on industry leading Cisco architecture and is designed to deliver both IPv4 and IPv6 support across our entire network. With high levels of redundancy and spares always held on-site, you can rest assured that we are always prepared for even the worst of eventualities.

Security is paramount to our operation. Because of this, our site benefits from high-tech CCTV and access control systems in conjunction with robust physical layers to provide comprehensive protection to all onsite equipment.

With permiter fences and secure, monitored entrances, our compound and offices are protected from the very most outer edge. Moving inwards, all areas are covered by high-resolution CCTV; monitored and recorded 24x7 by both internal and external operation centres with all records retained for a minimum of three months.

In additon to this, all our offices, core services and data centre areas are secured using high-level access control systems with a combination of proximity card, secure keycode and biometric layers for complete, trackable security.

Our server preparation area is located just inside our data centre, providing a quality environment from which to maintain, store and prepare equipment before deployment within server racks. The area is serviced with patchable network outlets, conditioned power and anti-static protection and it is available to all colocation customers free of charge.

We provide cage nuts, bolts, tools and cable management accessories for customers convenience - making public-transport a viable solution for journey's to and from our facility without the need to transport bulky tools and accessories. All cabinets are individually combination locked with seperate areas secured for UPS and Core Network distribution.

With cooling often drawing as much power as the main server load, it is no surprise that many companies invest in air management technologies. Netwise Hosting has taken this one step further, being one of the very first data centre's in the UK to install ultra high efficiency heat exchange units. These have been specified to work alongside custom extraction systems which together draw upto 90% less power compared to standard refrigerant based alternatives.

We have accomplished such low levels of power with the seperation of cool and hot air through hot-aisle contaiment technology, meaning no contamination between sources. Hot air is exhausted out of the hot-aisles in extraction ducts inteligently monitored in conjunction with our external heat exchangers, to provide a balanced air throughput.

Our cooling units utilise the latest in heat exchange technology, drawing standard outside air through a combination of cool water fed filters, which in turn output perfectly cool and humidifed air keeping our data centre within an optimum temperature range of 21°C ± 2° and a relative humidity of 50% ± 10%.

All these technologies work together in a balanced, intelligent system to provide optimum efficiency whilst drawing as little power as possible. In comparison to a legacy, industry standard air conditioning system, we save a massive 250 tons of CO2 on average each year which is the equivalent of removing roughly 55 cars from our roads - now that is truly green hosting.

Stable and conditioned power is a key factor within any data centre - Netwise Hosting kept this service at the forefront when designing our South London facility and we are pleased to offer a hardened power distribution network to all services.

Direct power grid feeds enter our facility from an on-site transformer, providing us with a high voltage, scalable supply from which our operation runs. This is split through highly sensitive circuit breakers and distribution systems that in turn provide power to our uninterruptable power supply units. Manufactured by APC and MGE, these systems provide a redundant and conditioned output that service all customer racks, cooling solutions and core network infrastructure.

Our UPS units are intelligently monitored for irregularities with spares kept on-site in the event of component replacement scenarios - all performable without downtime through the benefit of hot-swappable modules. In turn these units provide balanced, high efficient, supplies to the rack level in accordance with customers' requirements ranging from 2 - 32 amps.

Each server, whether a dedicated machine or colocation client, is connected to APC power distribution units boasting remote reboot ports and output monitoring for customer convenience and reporting purposes. All our power is regulated and filtered to provide a stable, clean power output meaning you can rest assured that your equipment is fed with optimum efficiency even in times of mains power failure.

All our hardware, whether it is dedicated servers or core network equipment, has been specified to provide an efficient and highly reliable service to our customers. Manufactured by various leading IT companies depending on requirements and areas of specialism include names such as Dell, HP and APC. These world famous brands provide us with world famous products that deliver time and again high-performance services.

Starting with our dedicated server solutions, we have on offer both Dell PowerEdge and HP ProLiant solutions that have been designed directly with the manufacturer to provide a balanced hardware set specifically suited for the hosting industry. These robust machines provide a scalable base from which your services can run with peace of mind that every spare part is kept onsite just in case of any hardware failure.

Moving inwards, our rack infrastructure and edge network equipment is from Cisco - a leader in data centre solutions. With hot-aisle containment systems for efficiency, and gigabit managed edge switches for fast data transfer, our rack level infrastructure is well designed for the size of our operation and the tasks it is faced with.

This brings us to our core services. Redundancy was a key factor with our facility specification and this is reflected throughout both our power and network systems. Cisco routers and core switches combine with APC and MGE power solutions work together in a balanced, fully monitored environment all with hot-swappable or redundant architecture as standard.
